by Monic Bert

Do you feel like your skin is dry, tight, and irritated at times? It’s possible. Every day, it is targetted by pollution and toxins that weaken its condition. Meet the anti-pollution care and learn how to protect yourself against all the harmful factors.

Only until recently, our one enemy was UVA and UVB rays. Today, another adversary is emerging and that is smog.

More and more, we get information that air pollution increases. Especially in the large cities the concentration of harmful substances in the air we inhale in pretty high. What is more, it’s not that only we suffer from it but also our skin and hair.

It’s worth knowing the impact of smog on your skin and hair but also how to protect oneself from the pollution. Only if you know your enemy is when you can effectively fight it back and win your beauty.

How air pollution impacts the skin and hair condition?

You shouldn’t underestimate the smog! It’s invisible (though sometimes you can sense it) enemy that attacks the cells of the skin and hair damaging them and making the regeneration that much more difficult.

Pollution speeds up aging processes so skin loses elasticity, gets dry fast, and becomes dull. Toxins cause oxidative stress and damage collagen, but also make it more difficult for precious nutrients such as hyaluronic acid to get through. As a result irritations and inflammations appear and in worse cases it can even lead to epidermis diseases. The harmful particles are small enough to get to the deeper skin layers and causing irreversible damage.

Hair also suffers due to pollution because it can trigger scalp irritation. It weakens hair bulbs and their regeneration ability so hair is less elastic, brittle, prone to split ends, dull, and rough. In the long run, hair can also fall out excessively.

Can anti-pollution care effectively protect you against pollution?

Lately, it became trendy to get anti-pollution cosmetics that are expected to protect you against harmful impact of environmental factors that attack you from all the sides. Are cosmetics such as anti-smog and anti-pollution even effective?

It is an entirely different direction taken by beauty and cosmetology but it for sure is the needed one. We are not able to hide from pollution nor avoid it but we can protect ourselves. Only with protection, we can minimize the unfavorable impact of pollution. The main tasks of anti-pollution cosmetics are:

  • the protection against the smog,
  • toxins and free radicals elimination,
  • fortifying natural protective barrier,
  • stimulation of regeneration and cellular renewal.

Which anti-pollution cosmetics are the best and how to protect the skin against smog?

If you wish to protect yourself effectively against smog and pollution, you should choose the right cosmetics. Not all the products with ‘anti-pollution’ written on it are actually good for you. The good anti-pollution cosmetic should have the right ingredients.

You should choose cosmetics with:

  • antioxidants,
  • occlusive substances,
  • emollients (oils),
  • UV filters,
  • hypoallergenic substances.

The use of cosmetics protecting against smog is a good idea but not the only one. You can limit the harmful impact of pollution on your skin and hair by undertaking appropriate steps. It is important to protect, strengthen, and nourish. What should you use?

An excellent choice is the use of natural oils. Those strengthen the hydrolipid barrier of the skin, are natural UV filter, contain antioxidants, and eliminate harmful impact of heavy metals so hair and skin are protected with oils like with a shield.

Natural oils can replace face cream because they eliminate free radicals and intensify the protection against the pollution so skin preserves its young appearance for longer. On the other hand, hair oil treatment strengthens its natural ability to regenerate and protects making strands soft, smooth, and glossy for longer.
