Special mission: Moisturizing. How to replenish skin and hair with water?

by Monic Bert

Moisturizing body, face and hair is the core of proper and conscious care. Even our fingernails seek hydration. Unfortunately, our bodies, especially after the winter or summer, suffer from water deficiency. The epidermis is the first to signalize this issue – it loses suppleness and elasticity, it gets flabby and looks bad. Sadly, hair and scalp get dry equally fast. What are the techniques of replenishing skin and hair with water?

What should be used to hydrate face and cleavage?

There is no other thing that supplies skin with water like a facial mask. You can go for a ready made mask available in a drugstore. If this option sounds okay to you, than you should give a try to facial sheet masks. The high concentration of substances doesn’t only moisturize skin but also brings relief, revitalizes and rejuvenates. However, if you are more into D.I.Y. cosmetics, you can mix an egg yolk with one ripe banana and let it sit on your face for 20 minutes. Then rinse and follow with a face cream. Yet another option is buying special dry sheets in a drugstore and letting them soak with natural substances such as natural oils combined with a hyaluronic acid – the king of moisturising.

Moreover, to replenish face and cleavage with water, you can get a special moisturising face & body mist. Use it instead of a toner, which means that you should apply it after taking off your makeup, on clean face and cleavage skin. The good news is that you can carry the mist in your bag and apply to your face any time you feel it gets too dry.

Of course, you can make such moisturizing spray at home. The easiest way to do it is infuse chosen herbs, e.g. chamomile or green/white tea. Let it cool down and pour the infusion into a bottle with atomizer to spray your face and cleavage with it whenever you feel like doing so.

What should be used to hydrate body?

One of the simplest ways to moisturize your body is while taking a bath. Prepare a homemade body emulsion with oil and pour it into bathwater. To do it, use 1/3 glass of powdered milk or olive oil – just add either of the ingredients to your tube and relax.

It’s also a good idea to spread a natural oil over your damp body, right after leaving shower or bath. Pat into the skin chosen oil to feel the immediate relief it brings to your skin. You can also make use of massage oil if your skin is affected by cellulite, stretch marks or if it lacks suppleness.

Another effective natural body moisturizer – especially for extremely dry skin – is aloe. It’s really easy to find it in any local drugstore. Aloe juice can be also used as hair moisturising agent.

Finally, lanolin turns out to be a potent remedy for all extremely dry skin areas of your body. This natural substance is almost identical in structure to human sebum, which is why it knows how to tackle and overcome the shortages of water in skin as well as rebuild and improve the natural hydro-lipid barrier. Of course, you can apply lanolin to the hair ends to prevent them against dehydration and splitting.

What should be used to hydrate hair?

Look for products that deliver double the dosage of moisturising. Reach for balms and conditioners for dry hair. Remember though to buy a cosmetic which composition is good, which doesn’t contain dehydrating alcohols (mainly short-chain and monohydric alcohols such as alcohol denat or benzyl alcohol). Go for hair beauty products containing natural extracts like wheat germ extract, lime extract, panthenol or lanolin.

A good way to replenish hair with water is offered by hair oil treatment. It improves state of dry hair in a snap. Natural oils are beneficial not only to treat hair with but also they serve the entire body really well. Choose only cold-pressed and non-refined oils to apply them regularly to hair and scalp instead of hair masks. You can rinse the oils after 20-30 minutes.
