Blackheads, acne, excessive amount of sebum. These are only a few of the imperfections that can appear on oily skin. If you do not want to have them on your face, learn what proper skin care should look like, step by step.
Oily skin – characteristics
You will determine oily skin with the following features:
- sebaceous glands secrete excessive amounts of sebum and thus, the skin shines in the T zone;
- clogged skin pores are visible
- blackheads and blemishes appear on the face
- the skin is thick and does not have a nice, even colour;
- skin inflammations appear;
- bacteria can cause dangerous dermatological diseases.
How to take care of oily skin?
Step 1: cleanse
Regular skin cleansing is especially important when it comes to oily skin. You must get rid of excess sebum, sweat, dirt, dust and cosmetics. To wash your face, you can go ahead and use mild products that come in the form of a mousse or gel with a high content of natural ingredients. However, try to avoid soap bars and harsh detergents that can dry up the complexion and lead to increased sebum secretion. It is very important that every time after cleansing the face, you use a toner that will restore the skin’s proper pH.
Step 2: face mask
Face masks dedicated to oily skin can be used both in the morning and in the evening. They cannot have too oily consistency nor contain drying up ingredients. Such products should moisturise, cleanse skin pores, regulate the work of sebaceous glands and even out the skin colour. If you have oily skin, avoid using peel-off face masks. Even though such cosmetics remove blackheads but they may also irritate the skin and increase sebum secretion.
Step 3: drink a lot of water
Drinking about a litre of pure water each day will contribute to the improvement of skin condition. This way you will hydrate the body from within and enhance the proper functioning of sebaceous glands. What’s more, you should drink a glass of water every morning after waking up – it will boost the proper functioning of the body and ensure energy for the entire day. Also, bear in mind that drinking alcohol is forbidden if you want to have flawless skin. Alcohol has drying up and irritating effects on both the skin and the body.
Step 4: mattifying makeup
To apply mattifying makeup, of course, use mattifying cosmetics, but also, silicone primers and waterproof products. Thanks to them, your look will be flawless, the amount of sebum will be decreased and all imperfections concealed. Additionally, during the day, you can use blotting papers that will absorb excess sebum, sweat and impurities and allow you to feel fresh throughout the entire day.
